Cutcliffe resigns at Notre Dame
Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis is faced with hiring a new quarterbacks coach following the resignation of former Ole Miss head coach David Cutcliffe from that position. Cutcliffe cited health reasons for his resignation following triple bypass surgery in March.
Weis says he has a successor in mind and the two names popping up most are Ron Powlus and Peter Vaas. Vaas has coached in NFL Europe and coached QBs and running backs for the Irish under Lou Holtz. Powlus worked with backup QBs during the spring while Cutcliffe recovered from surgery while Weis worked with starter Brady Quinn.
