Notre Dame snaps 169 game streak

For the first time since 1992, the Notre Dame football game will available on the broadcast networks or ESPN. The Irish have played 169 consecutive games on the "big boy" networks, but this week's Air Force game brings an end to all that, with the game only being shown on CSTV.

Don't have CSTV? Check the Blue Gray Sky for a little help.

Good. I think there are much better games this weekend than Notre Dame vs. Air Force. If Notre Dame wins, big deal. It won't move them up in the polls unless someone ahead of them loses

For a program that hasn't even played for a National Title in 16 years, this should not come as a surprise. The only suckers out there are NBC for being fooled for so long.

A lot of sore losers out there, so one game in 14 years in not being broadcast. How many teams can boast that record.

LOL, you guys just don't get it. Notre Dame whether you like it or not, is Americas team. There are more ND fans across the nation than any other college. The income/ratings NBC gets on those ND home games is huge. It's a win/win/win for NBC, ND, and the fans. If the networks weren't making money do you think they would be showing these "crappy" ND games? The best thing about ND football is all of the controversy it creates. The more the minority cries foul, the more it makes them look like little pouting whiners. But also don't forget that ND is an independent and they can have a TV contract with anyone they want. Go ask Michigan, USC, or Ohio state why they don't have a TV contract. Am I a ND fan? Oh hell yea. Am I biased? Sure. But it does not change the fact that ND is the most beloved and hated team in the country. Except maybe the much hated Michigan.

What is next for the Irish? The Coast Guard Academy on TBS? Most overrated team in football. They lose the 2 or 3 games on the schedule against good teams. Time to see if the Big East will take you for football too!

Whine all you want. The fact is ND is the most popular football school in the USA. Wear their hat, sweatshirt, etc. anywhere, and someone will come up to you and tell you they are a fan too!!
Go into the stores that have televisions tuned to ND on gameday. Their everywhere. Hate them or love them, they are the most popular football program ever!! I'm a biased fan, proud of it, and won't apoligize for that to anyone.

Since when did anyone have to be an alum to be a fan? You ND haters are all a bunch of whinners, you bitch if we play a service acadamy but teams like Texas and several others play 1AA teams and no one says a word. ND's relationship to the service acadamies predates WW2, and was done to support our troops. ND has continued these relationships and kept them on their schedule to help support these fine institutions. Dont you think we can schedule a MAC team or 1AA opponent if we wanted....get real!

It's gonna take alot more than "the luck of the Irish" to beat USC in the Coliseum. I would suggest they bring their lunch - cause it's gonna be an all dayum day job!

How old are you Tommie? 12 or 13 maybe? You were crowing a lot like this just before some Oregon team took care of the trojans. Then we all had peace and quiet and some intelligent discussion for awhile, but here you go again. Maybe SC will win out, but I doubt it very much.

    Nelson:

If you want peace and quiet, if I were you, I'd go fishin' for awhile. But I don't think college football would be your game. There is just way too much passion and excitement involved. People even get drunk and rowdy at the games. The big concern in Columbus is that there might be a riot if the Buckeyes win. Have you tried Bird Watching?

ND was america's team. Then they sucked for about 15 years and we were ALL forced to watch overrated teams get hammered in every big game they played. We all got sick of hearing every year that ND was on the way back only to be disppointed. You can only cry wolf so many times.

who cares if we are on tv or not? no big deal. its all about the wins. and the irish got that, so its all good. also, no shit NBC is biased. the channel kisses the irish's ass every saturday. tomcat, what the hell is rong with you. air force beat notre dame? lets not kid ourselves. the irish killed them. they are hated on and hated on week in and week out. face it, the irish are one of the best teams in the nation. i dont care how much you are going to deny this. you show me one piece of legit evidence that the irish are way over rated and i will never be back on the website again.

I have a a question, when it comes time for the next step to the NFL. Who's going to od better? Brady Quinn or "Troy Smith". I'm going to say Quinn, the reason Smith is good because he's got some damn good recievers. A freshman loser quarterback could do good with an offense like that. What can Smith do, scramble, who needs that anymore, Quinn will do better in the future weather u like it or not.

The Irish are America's premier football program.

Half of each conference is, by definition, losers.

Opposing teams are always free to cut NBC a better deal, as in: "Lookee here, we'll let you show all of [e.g.] Nebraska's home games nationwide against teams like Nicholls State, Troy State, Mcneese State, directional Florida, Iowa State, KU, Colorado: you won't have to pay nearly as much either. Whaddya say?" Hell, here in Omaha, I even know Husker fans who back up to the gate when Big Red beats up on some AA weenie.

Of course we all know why ND has its own TV deal: because it commands that much attention and respect. Notre Dame pays, it doesn't cost. You can prove me wrong by beating ND to a better deal for NBC.

ND had the 18th toughest strength of schedule this year and went 10-2. And that's with Ty Willingham's talent. Look out when Charlie Weis gets his own kids on the field. BCS in each of his first two years. You gotta like what's coming out of Notre Dame.

Notre Dame has these so-called traditional rivalries Georgia Tech,Michigan State,Army, Navy, and Air Force. If you had to play in a conference and win that conference in order to advance to a BCS game, then and only then would your advancement be justified. There are alot of really good two and three loss teams that do not get the opportunities afforded to Notre Dame.Nobody really hates Notre Dame, they are always ranked high, play the same teams over and over, then get a good bowl and lose. These are the facts.
    Good luck Irish Geaux Tigers

What happened the last time ND played Michigan?
Nebraska also played USC, Texas,Oklahoma,Texas A&M and Oklahoma State. Dont go Knocking a team you havent faced in a while. While yall were clobbering acedamys the Huskers were playing some tough competition. Hookem-Horns
