Irish-Baylor game to be announced officially

Looks like the Notre Dame - Baylor football game rumors from last month are coming to fruition, in a game to be played on Oct. 6, 2012 in the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Notre Dame is the home team in the one-game contract with Baylor. Notre Dame is expected to make an announcement about playing the game in Arlington in the next few days.

This gives the Irish home field games at neutral sites in San Antonio against Washington State (October 31, 2009), Orlando (2011), Baylor in Dallas (October 6, 2012), and Orlando (2014).

Wow!!! ND is really going out on a limb playing Baylor and Washington State. Who's next, Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Florida A & M, The National School for the Blind, man I just can't wait to see ND's future matchups.

OK, it's bad enough ND gets to drub on Baylor (upset special anyone...), but ND gets to be the home team, in Baylor's home state?!? This deserves another Sam Kinison.

    AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

    Ahem, Go Bears!!!

Glad ND and Michigan temporarily dropped their series. It's obvious ND has much bigger fight to fry...

    TrojanHorse,
Great Point!! Charlie Weis is a terrible coach. His handful of Super Bowl rings mean nothing, nor does his 19 wins in two seasons (as many as Ty in the last 4) with Ty's team. Yup, it's the Kool Aid.

As for adding a game with Baylor, Oklahoma & Texas play 'em every year. They are the Big12's Purdue. Notre Dame is scheduling those offsite games (Orlando, Texas, etc.) strictly for recruiting purposes and, quite frankly, because we can. How about giving Kevin White and the Notre Dame Athletic Dept. some credit here. They are scheduling games, to be televised nationally, in hotbed recruiting grounds that northern teams don't typically dominate or sometime have no access to. It's genius. If USC, Michigan, West Virginia, Florida State, Texas, Florida etc. could do it, they would. The point is that they cannot.

Come on, fellas. Give 'em some credit when it is due. You spend enough talking about Kool Aid or the over-hyped Irish. This should be an instance where you can at least admit to some savvy.

One more thing...for such an "irrelevant" team, we sure do spend a lot of time (as does the media) talking about Notre Dame. HmmM.

How bout the future OU-Notre Dame series for 2012-2013? Hopefully, OU will win both of those games to make the series a little less lopsided. I do wish there could be a OU-USC or OU-Florida series agreed to in the future also. Go SOONERS!!

    IrishJT (#12)

ESPN spends a lot of time & new shows on the Yankees. Yet you have to think long & hard for the last time they won a title. Media coverage means nothing.

Sorry, BlueGold95, FL won't play any team like OK unless its for the N.C. While admittedly, it's a friendly jibe at all our "gator mates", it's also fair warning. Be careful what you wish for.

I'm really surprized that Notre Dame has the balls to face the Mighty Bears. It figures that they are going to play in Arlington because the Irish are scared of playing at Floyd Casy Stadium in Waco. They know that Baylor is gonna win anyway and scheduled the game in Arlington, just so they dont have to witness the Bear Fans tearing down the goal posts in front of a national audience. Hopefully they wont whup the Irish too bad, however this thing could get outa hand. Maybe next time ND ought to schedult TLU
Texas Lutheren Bulldogs then the Irish might have a chance at a win. Instead they have to face an humiliating loss to BU. This game will be so lopsided that ND will regret ever scheduling such a disaster.

they holy war is coming. too bad your going to texas to fight a bapist state. Upset anyone. you better pull a jihad because if you lose no texas recruit or any recruit for that matter will look at ND again. i want to know Wazzu and ND at San Antonio. Come on atleast play a texas team. TCU, oops my bad they too good for you. How about SMU, they just came off the death penalty 10 years ago, they seem like a nice fit for the Irish. it still might be a close game you should probably bring those lucky green jerseys.
