OSU fans go all Morgantown after win

Following a great win over Texas, the Ohio State fans in Columbus pulled a page out of West Virginia's playbook, setting fire to couches and mattresses to celebrate the win.

Couches and mattresses were set on fire outside houses in Ohio State University student neighborhoods, and three people were struck by a car following the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes' 24-7 win over No. 2 Texas on Saturday night.

There were 35 to 40 fires set in student neighborhoods, said Columbus police Sgt. David Howson, whose department arrested about 17 people, five of them on arson charges. A trash bin also was set ablaze, burning two nearby cars, he said.

Note to OSU fans: You don't have to actually burn couches, just buy an EDSBS shirt, cool?

Columnist Kevin Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News should take note, in case OSU fans turn their torches towards Dallas after Sherrington questioned the Buckeye's #1 ranking after the win.

The Buckeyes really are better than Texas.

Not that it seemed like much of a statement as Ohio State exacted its revenge, 24-7, at Royal-Memorial Stadium.

These were the nation's top two teams? Sure, they've only played a couple of games apiece. But so far the Buckeyes haven't provided any clue they can stop the run. They don't pack much of a rushing attack, either, and both are prerequisites for teams with national title hopes. Even chip-shot field goal attempts are adventures.

Does OSU have some work to do? Yeah. Are they heads and shoulders above anybody else? We'll see. Are they the legit #1 team? You bet your ass. Maybe Sheridan was sitting down-wind of McConaughey and just has the munchies.

BuckeyeCommentary has a great shot of the huge scoreboard after the game.

UPDATE: Angela sent in a tip that an OSU cheerleader celebrated the win with a little DUI bowling, running over an Ohio State VP, his wife, and a firefighter.

Got to love that PAC 10 homecookin' by the officials. Hey Ducks if you can get those officials to call every game for you this season you will for sure win the PAC 10. Those officials were worst than the ones for Lubbock. Actual final score 33-27 OU. Even the Oregon radio guys admitted it. Best of luck cheaters! You are going to need it.

Everyone posting here must have had a wad of cash on the okies. How many times has the pac ten ben hosed by east coast voters? Most recently the coaches poll where a coach admitted rigging the outcome. I know theres nothing to do but kiss your cousin in okie-la-homo but as the Pac Ten has always had to lament.. If you were good enough it wouldnt come down to one call. ESPN has agreed in the past... but as east coast croanies they seem to sing a diferent tune when it affects their wallets.

    Drew-
Piss and moan all you want, but the Ducks offense looked like crap (4 turnovers), yet still won. A.D. is good, but he only gained that many yards because our defense was tired due to our offensive woes. Besides, A.D. did not "stomp" all over Stewarts stats. A.D. had 10 more carries and averaged less yards a carry. Although, I agree that the ball did not travel 10 yards, from the camera angle it is inconclusive. Yet, OU got nice little gifts when the "PAC-10 refs" did not call a push off in the endzone by a OU receiver and when OU did not get the ball off in time when they passed it to Kelly down the sideline for a TD (yet was called back to the UO 47). Face it, UO owned you stat-wise, but had so many turnovers, it kept you in the game. So, you can keep on thinking OU and the Big 12 is the greatest, but you lost to a team that gave you the ball 4 times. Oh, if you are so great, why couldn't you stop our offense when it counted?

P.S. We have only played you seven times, not eight. 1-6 and rising, Woohooo!

We can moan about all the calls that were never made throughout the game but the fact is that happens in every game on both sides. The issue is when you have replay and can see that the call is bad, you really need to look into the integrity of the officiating. The onside kick clearly shows the Oregan player touching the ball and regardless of the angle, you can see Kelly moves in closer then the ten yards but Oregan still touches the ball. As for the pass interferance call, I am no expert, but the ball came out clean from Dixon's hand and then somewhere in mid flight became a "Duck", I would have to wonder....
Now I must admitt that OU had its opportunities and they should have capitalized more, but to see a game handed to a team is very demoralizing and a disgrace to CFB.

"The ducks offense looked like crap..." Um, hello, it's oregon! Playing Oklahoma, on a down year, that cheat win was about the best outcome you could hope for. The Ducks will always look like crap on offense against a non MAC/PAC-10/WAC team, we stress defense in the other conferences, touch down trading is boring.

Being a die-hard Sooner fan I was disappointed with the UO/OU game. Not because of the officiating but because of the young OU offense NOT playing THEIR game in the first half!

On any given Saturday in the NCAA any team can beat anyone. And bad calls by the officials doesn't matter if a team is taking care of the ball and the clock! Really, all three timeouts for OU in the first quarter? That is very poor clock management! The second half OU looked like it should with a few exceptions. AP was NOT stopped as some UO fans stated, look at the stats! And if the Ducks were too tired to stop AP in the second half I pity their remaining season!

Bottom line is that the Ducks won. No doubt that the PAC 10 will stick with the outcome. There really is no way to correct the officiating. That said the answer to who is the better team will be answered in a few months. Good luck to you all. And GO SOONERS!

    cuda...
youre obviously retarded..youre team won by ONE POINT...and you cheated. oh..and yeah..the pac 10 refs REALLY gaves us that "push," or maybe it was just him putting his arms out..bc he didnt seem to push and if he did push then it was a tiny little push..or maybe your players are pussies?? yeah..i think their just pussies. go look on the interent and all you will find is articles saying ou were the real winners and totally talking shit on your horrible officials. and actually...ad was averaging more yards that stewart in the second half...is stewart running for heisman?? ..i dont think so. bottom line...youre team and whole conference are cheaters. before you try and even argue..look up other resources and maybe youll realize the whole country is saying the real winners were ou and that we were screwed. your team sucks and was beating by at least a touchdown..if not more. also, besides the onside kick call and the pass interference call..you guys also had about 20 other things go for you..so you cant just say that the shoving done by our player cost you the game or that the officials gave us that play..bc its clear that the refs were for uo the whole game...but our school is making your conference review it bc it was bullshit so everyone..besides the whole country who already saw it...will eventually know the truth and the whole football team for uo will be made out to look like dumbasses...which they are.

I'm sure you'll keep replying, getting all pissed at the world and probably beating someone or something up. Please don't take your ignorama out on someone else.

Regardless of "The Call", Oregon won. Would you like me to list all the of close or bad calls that lead to a team winning their conference or title game? I won't give you the time, you're not worth it.

Oh yeah, Pac 10 VS Big 12 this weekend...not so good Al...yes B12 is mostly a bunch of strong teams with good kids, most of which wouldn't appreciate having fans like Drew who make them look bad.

Have a great life Drew..good luck, and it's OK to have someone check your writing before you post it. Visit www.writing.com...

    Go Ducks. Go Pac 10.

C,mon if the game is close enough that a couple of bad calls wins it for a team then did you really dominate the Oregon Ducks. The obvious answer is no !!! Although I will admit there's alot of drunk sooner fans out there SWARMING around like a bunch of pesky insects. Whining and complaining about being beat by a team that went into the game ready to play. I mean how long did OU trail in the game? Isnt that answer, most of the game? I think so. Hey all that matters is OU has to whine and find all kinds of reasons to blame their loss something other than their mediocrity. The fact of the matter is, Champions dont lose a game on a call by the refs, because they dominate throughout. I mean really who wants to waste another 4 hours watching the OU Spooners choke in another bowl game? Not me.
Own up to the fact youre not special youre just another football team.

oh okay...i didnt score a 33 and a 31 on my act english composition as well as writing a perfect essay with no grammatical errors or anything..you dumbass. dont talk about things that dont even matter..if this was just a close call, i dont think your stupid officials would be suspended and considering resigning. and stop saying protect your lead..we shouldnt have had to, are you all retarded? point is, the play caused us to lose. not our defense. theres no way oregon couldve done any better if it had happened to them so stop trying to defend yourselfs because all of you who support oregon have already been made out to look like idiots in front of the entire country. even espn is against you. so just stop, because youre all wrong. i dont know what else has to happen to show you all that youre wrong. your team sucks, cant beat a team fair and square, and your season is now over bc its quite obvious the only game you wanted to win was the ou game, while ours is going to continue on and well probably make it to a bowl game while you dont. even after all of the cheating pac-10 pulled off, you could still only beat us by ONE POINT. end of story.
