Fan builds scale replica of 'Shoe with Legos
Deadspin has a great post showing a two-year labor of love: A 1:275 scale replica of Ohio Stadium built entirely of Legos.
He has several pictures of this in an email creator Jim Stricker has sent around -- though, strangely, there's no official site to extol the virtues -- and he tells the story of its creation. Here it is after 2+ years of work. It is a 1:275 (approximate) scale model of Ohio Stadium, built entirely with Legos. The project commenced in July 2002 and was finally completed in October 2004. I have no idea on how many thousands of pieces are in the model (it would be nearly impossible to count without dismantling), but can say that it weighs around 38 pounds, not including the plywood base. The footprint is 36 1/2" x 46 1/2" and stands 10" tall. I devoted around 2000 hours of my time, which includes activities needed to research, locate and purchase the pieces, planning, layout, assembly, disassembly, and much trial and error. The stadium was constructed in sections to facilitate moving in the future.

Two years? Are you serious? I am not even sure how to respond to that comment:
1. What a waste of two years.
2. An Oregon State Undergrad (the real OSU) could do that in 2 days. If it were made out of dominos, it would take 2 hours....
But as an Oregon grad, I am now started on duplicating Autzen Stadium with Lincoln Logs.
It will be complete with Lincoln people, Lincoln-abagos and working bathrooms.
I will check back with you in 2 years....

You mean that is'nt life size? =)
The shoe is a pretty cool stadium, but the only thing that keeps the buckeye's going is none other than cheatypantsMcsweatervest! (all 50 turnovers in the Northwestern game)P.S. I bet the shoe was built in less than two years.
Buckeye Mark,if your silly looking buckeyes, beat my BLUE,you better win that game in Glendale.
Oh I almost forgot,I think there was more red than purple at the Northwestern game, nice to have home field advantage at away games.

It was November 22 1969
That they(Ohio State)came to bury Michigan all dressed in maize and blue
The words were said the prayers were read and everybody cried
But when they closed the coffin there was someone else inside
Ohhh they came to bury Michigan but Michigan was'nt dead
And when the game was over it was someone else instead
Eleven Michigan Wolverines put on the gloves of grey
And as the organ played
"the victors"
They laid Woody Hayes away-Bob Ufer, the greatest Michigan Anouncer!

Isn't the buckeye nation great? Regarding OSU Stadium, lets recall:
What Vince Young said: When asked "How loud was the Rose Bowl game and how tough was it to play there" he responded with, "It wasn't that bad. Ohio State, man, Ohio State was the loudest place I've ever played. The Rose Bowl is wider and more open, but Ohio State is more closed in and everyone is so loud and on top of you. You could hear all the little things people said about you. Man, that was the toughest place I've ever played."

1974 Ohio State 12 Michigan (10-0) 10
1975 Ohio State 21 Michigan (8-0-2) 14Doesn't quite look like Woody Hayes was "layed away" in 1969, does it?

BeantownBlue,
Thanks for that link (#7)...in 40 years of watching college football, I have never seen anything so disgusting. I was in a fraternity, spent a year in Korea in the Air Force and still that video of Columbus is just so wrong.
Thanks for the insight....to the Buckeye nation.
Go Big Blue, see you next year.

J Thomas:
Yep, "We are SC" is all about our two lousy wins over a completely overmatched Arkansas club. If we hadn't won those two "monumental" games - we would have no tradition at all! I'll let you in on a little secret: those two wins don't mean anything more to us than if we had pounded Hawaii or Colorado State. In fact, many of the Mountain West and WAC opponents have put up way more of a fight than the Razorbacks ever did. Heck, even Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Nebraska and Arizona State all put up way more scrap than Arkansas did. The only team we beat by more, this year, was Stanford. So, I guess if you had to roll with the Pac-10 you might be able to get one win.

FIRST OFF I WAS NOT SPEAKING OF YOU ON THE ONE GAME SCENARIO, OR MAYBE I WAS, BUT I WILL SAY THIS IF ARKANSAS WINS OUT AND USC LOSSES ONE THAT GAME WILL MEAN A HELL OF A LOT TO YOU AND THE REST OF THE TROJANS AND I DON'T FEEL I HAVE TO ELABORATE ON THAT, YOU'RE A SMART GUY, NOW DEFENDING THE PIGGIES USC SCORED 30 POINTS OFF OF FIVE ARKANSAS TURNOVERS, OUR OFFENSE WA BEING COACHED BY GUS THE HIGHSCHOOL MAN, ALL HE SAW THAT DAY WERE STREAKS OF RED AND YELLOW, AND DO YOU KNOW THAT SINCE THAT GAME ARKANSAS HAS NOT ALOUD MORE THAN 23 POINTS SCORED AGAINST THEM AND THAT WAS AN OVERTIME GAME AGAINST BAMArzrback fan said:

rzrback fan & J Thomas:
What did you guys do? Recruit another whole class during the season? Recruiting ended a long time ago. You aint go no "new players". You have the same ones you had on that day. And, what are you doin' with a high school coach anyway? Oh, I almost forgot, Mitch Mustain and those other two guys (what are their names, WR & TE?). Nope, the reason that you are rollin' now is that you play in "the mighty SEC". That's a fact! I'll give you this much. For sure, Arkansas and LSU, are the class of the SEC. We'll see what you got when you go back up against LSU - a similar team to USC in their physical talent. And, if you win the game, I suppose that at that time - Arkansas could claim that they have really joined the prime time crew. And, beat the crap out of Florida with a USC loss, and I'm very tempted to want to see what you could do against the winner of the Big 10. So, I am all for Arkansas. Why do you constantly want to try and propel yourselves up to where USC is when all you really dismantled was Auburn (which we also killed twice) and Tennessee - which aren't very good this year? I don't understand. Win some big games and then come back and blabber at me. I am very impressed with the Hogs. But, there are many great teams in college football. Auburn and Tennessee are not in that class. LSU is though. Let's see what you can do with them.

This is a really cool project and this guy deserves a big thumbs up. As for an Oregon St.[the other osu] undergrad doing it in two days, well maybe so but this guy probably has a job and did this in his spare time. How this turned into a USC-Arkansas thread I have no idea but, J THOMAS if you would press the key marked "cap lock" you might not come off so ARROGANT and someone might actually appreciate your comments.

So many comedians.....As BuckiNut says, this project was built in spare time - as a hobby. Anyone else have a hobby? I am builder of the Lego stadium and am proud of it. There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding the person who built this (or people wrongfully claiming to be the builder). Truth be told, I am the guy who did it. you want the buckeyes to beat your chicken? weird
j/k
i really dont give the first $4!t about ohio state or michigan, but it's going to be a hell of a matchup b/c michigan is probably the only college football team that even deserves to play in the same stadium with ohio state this year. ohio state has home field advantage, which is pretty big in that game.
i'm going to make a prediction, a slobberknocker back and forth and ohio state wins it in the last 2 minutes or in overtime.
after this game there will be only two undefeateds, the winner of this game and rutgers of all teams. will rutgers be ranked in the top 3? i also predict that rutgers will not beat west virginia, but if they do, i submit that they are for real and should be considered for the national title game. i'm not convinced yet that they are the same calibur as osu or michigan, but if they are undefeated at the end of the year and have beaten loui, and wv, they should be considered. maybe not picked but given strong consideration.

Referring to post # 24: "how about you look at our roster now and when we played. totally different".
How did your roster get "totally different"? What am I missing here? You and J Thomas have got to send us some of that "shine" out to California. We sure could use it.
