Murray State coach suspended over player arrests

Murray State head coach Joe Pannunzio was placed on paid leave Friday after the arrests of a player and former player who were charged with drug trafficking this week.

Racers running back Ron Lane, a junior, was charged, along with a former wide receiver, with drug trafficking within 1,000 yards of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lane was suspended from the team by Athletic Director Allen Ward.

Pannunzio has been coach since 2000 and has a .500 record. Lane rushed for 789 yards while Biggers had 175 yards receiving last season. Biggers quit the team before spring practice.

    Per the AP, Pannunzio was reinstated last week. The statement he made was rather generic, and leads one to believe that no additional punishment will be doled out.
