OU QB cited for underage drinking...again

It should be clear by now that Oklahoma Sooners QB Rhett Bomar likes to get his drink on.

Oklahoma starting quarterback Rhett Bomar was cited Friday for being a minor in possession of alcohol after an undercover police officer spotted him drinking at the New Orleans Hornets basketball game at the Ford Center, police said Saturday.

This is (at least) the second time Bomar has been cited for MIP, the first followed last season's loss to TCU.

No word yet from the Oklahoma football team on whether Bomar will be disciplined or not.

He should be cited for attending a NBA game.

    Very poor judgement.

Kenny Stabler and "Willie" Joe Namath were two that come to mind that liked to "tie one on" every once in a while. If Bomar could ever drink like those guys - he might turn out to be one heck of a quarterback.

Good God! Will someone explain to him being in the public spotlight. They should ticket whomever is buying it for him.

Hey man, get off OU's back.

The QB is three months from being legal 21. He had some beers with buddies at an NBA game.

If you even think you can spin this to some kind of alcohol problem your f'n nuts.

The charges from last September were dropped. He was having a drink in the backyard of a friends house.

My gosh man, 75% of all college students do this on a weekly basis.

But really, I think you've got it out for OU. You seem to delight in the negative.

Everybody seems to revel in the negative until it is their team and then they shut up or are in total denial. It is an amazing concept.

Isn't is amazing how willing we are to look the other way when it is an athlete doing something wrong....he BROKE THE LAW !!! Who cares if everyone is doing it, Gene Larew what are you thinking...get off Rhett's back ? It sounds like someone needs to do a better job of staying on his back, this is his second go around with the same issue...am I saying that he has a drinking problem...no, what I am saying is that he needs to learn common sense...being a college athlete doesn't excuse any kind of law breaking....

You know, I have not looked at this post in a while (as with everybody else), but here is what I think has happend to Bomar for the Sooner faithful. He has attended the Chris Rix QB school. It is all about how to make stupid decisions and how to make your school look bad by making dumb decisions while in the public spotlight. That is what it has to be.

Bomar, 20, was allegedly outside a residence near campus in possession of "a cocktail, which included alcohol" on Saturday, police Lt. Tom Easley said. Bomar wasn't arrested.

"The only analogy I can make is, it's similar to a traffic citation," Easley said. "If you're a Norman resident, we will let you sign with a promise to appear in court within five days."

Bomar, who Easley said is scheduled to appear for an Oct. 5 court date, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Let's all just delight in the fact that Mr. Rhett Bomar has now been released from the OU squad making his entire team's stock drop quite heavily. Forget the LB that also lost his "job", that is inconsequential when it comes down to the leadership the QB should have been providing. Now he's left the reins to a true freshman, who is very good. Best of luck to the OU squad this 2006-07 season.
As I mentioned the job earlier. These young men need to understand this is not playing around. This is a job no matter what way you look at it. He just cost himself millions....for thousands....what's the logic?
