Interest in Bomar growing
Rhett Bomar, the recently deposed Oklahoma starting QB, has an ever growing list of suitors queuing up to give him a new educational home.
Here is a rundown of who has been wooing the former Sooner.
-Bomar took a tour of the University of Houston on Tuesday. The comments over on the Houston Chronicles' sports blog about the idea show that Cougar fans have a mixed bag of opinions on the topic.
-TCU appeared interested, then backed off after it was made public.
-Rhett's father Jerry, while telling reporters his son deserved a 2nd chance, was busy shaking the trees at North Texas.
-Division II Texas A&M-Commerce has phoned Oklahoma to seek permission to speak with Bomar about a possible transfer. Here is the official statement
-According the Dallas Morning News, Bomar has also made a trip to Sam Houston State
-On another note - the Dallas paper also reported that the incident has caused Rhett's mother Suzi, an insurance agent, to lose her job.

If memory servers TC - if you step down a level, to I-AA or Division II - you don't have to sit for a year.
I remember Grambling going after Maurice Clarett for that reason, and Colorado's QB a few years back going right to Montana and playing right away.
They also have a new rule this year where if you have graduated in three or four years, and still have eligibility remaining, you can transfer within Division I-A without sitting as well. QB Richard Kovalcheck moved from Arizona to Vandy this year on that new rule and may be the new Vandy QB this season, after starting the '05 season as the Wildcats starter.

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe after you drop to I-AA, not only can you play immediately without sitting out, but you can also transfer back to I-A and play the next year, also without sitting out. That's what the Miami Herald reported that Willie Williams is going to do.

He's attended 3 different Sam Houston practices in the past week, so he's looking pretty hard at us. We just got a WR transfer from Texas Tech, so that may help. The only other serious competition in Houston. He'd be in line to take over the program with Kolb graduated.

I heard he packed all his stuff up and is on his way to Disney World!Come on,people give him some time/privacy!This is crazy.People are on this thread saying his family members names and saying what they do for a living. Why don't you all just go ahead and post his whole family tree while your at it.Have you people ever heard of something called discretion???This is the INTERNET in case you all forgot.Try and remember that if you are lying or telling the truth!

He is/was a "public" figure whether you or anyone else likes it or not, people are naturally curious, some care, some don't, personally I hope he finds success somewhere, his dad was right, this is America, even felons get 3 strikes, and he didn't hurt anyone, the boosters wanted him to have the money. I have a friend who is a walk on at another southern school who won a bowl game last year. All the players got a plasma TV, $2K, and some kind of video game system. If anyone out there thinks this doesn't go on at ALL schools, think again. Everyone, including the coaches, turn their heads the other way. Don't ask, don't tell. It's too bad some chick ratted out Bomar on the internet. He took alot less than $18K, more like $5-6K. That's nothing compared to the $50K+ Lexus that Peterson was driving for over 2 months, till he gave it back, only because someone ratted on him too.

joe joe,I completely understand that he is a public figure. The point I'm trying to get across is people shouldn't get on the INTERNET and give out his family members names and their jobs and their personal information.Doing that kinda thing is ridiculous. There are ways to be discreet and not name his family members bro.People need to exercise something called common sense!

Let me get this straight, University of Houston AD Dave Maggard is against graduate students with remaining eligibility getting to play at their new schools because those "pesky students" try to get away with anything, but he wants to land Rhett Bomar who was on the Oklahoma alumni dole? To what is the world coming? What a wonderful champion of education Dave Maggard is! Good Lord....

The stepmom's name was already given out in some Oklahoma newspaper, but the way it was worded sounded like it was his mom. Previous articles on this subject already named his dad's and mom's first names when they printed that neither would make any comment, and that his mom wouldn't answer her cell phone. Besides all that information can be found on the internet anyway, what's the big deal? All you have to do is look up previous articles and it lists both his parents names. What's so personal about his parents' names? It's common knowledge. Chill out, dude.

Hey Josh, T- Mac everybody I just received an e-mail from Austin that confirms that Bomar has signed with Sam Houston State. Cool maybe after he is cleared by NCAA he can play against the Horns. He wont have the defense or the o-line he had with the Sooners.Frank Okam, Segio Kindle, and of coarse Brian Robison will be sacking his ass again. joe joe, that's my whole point regarding Bomar's family members privacy bro.You said it right there.(The stepmom's name was already given out in some OK newspaper, but the way it was worded sounded like it was his mom.)Another example joe joe about family members wanting privacy.(Previous articles on this subject already named his dad's and mom's first names when they PRINTED THAT NEITHER WOULD MAKE ANY COMMENT,AND THAT HIS MOM WOULDN'T ANSWER HER CELL PHONE.)Now,let me ask you this joe joe.Why do you think neither one of his parents would make any comment to the press? Why do you think his mom wouldn't answer her cell phone?HIS FAMILY WANTED TO BE LEFT ALONE!Can't you see that? The media has absolutely no respect for peoples privacy and we know that.At least I thought we did.His family wanted privacy and to be left alone during that time.If that would have been your family being hassled during that time I bet you would think different my friend. You ask, what's the big deal? The big deal is that Bomar is a grown man and the media was harassing his family at that point. His own mom couldn't even answer her cell phone because the media wouldn't leave her alone.I know my momma comes first in my life always!I guarantee you if it was your family you would feel different bro.BTW-I'm Chill T-Mac

Who cares about Bomar anymore - good riddance for him and J.D. Quinn. If you guys care so much for Bomar go support him and buy Sam Houston State tickets and while your at it pick up some Montana Grizzly tickets to watch your boy J.D. - I'm sure you can still get them!
The season has started and I think Paul Thompson looked good. Let's see the improvements we make for the Washington game. GO OU!!!
