Chrome helmets coming soon to Oregon

For the love of everything holy, would someone please call the fashion police on the Oregon Ducks football team.

Tonight's ESPN broadcast of the Holiday Bowl included an overview of all nine (nine!!) of Oregon's uniforms, plus the mention that the Ducks would wear three different helmets next year, including a chrome-style helmet.

Dear Oregon: STOP THE MADNESS!

That's what happens when the head of Nike is your most famous alum.

Which, by the way, if you've ever seen those Under Armor commercials where the UA team stops team "Goliath" on a 4th down play, ever notice the color of Goliath's uniforms? Looks a lot like the Ducks from Oregon. I think it's a dig at Nike.

Maybe it's part of Oregon's plan to hide. From what I'm seeing right now, they're going to have to dress up as Oregon State players to get back home.

I'm with you Pez. These clowns are a disgrace to the Pac-10 and should be immediately shipped out to the Big Sky Conference. For all of the "yappin" about being left out of the BCS - what a pathetic showing they are putting on against Oklahoma. You want respect - earn it! California did the same thing last year. They got snubbed by the BCS - so they roll over and die? USC got snubbed out of the BCS National Championship two years ago. What did they do? They went out and destroyed Michigan - that's what! And, haven't looked back since. You other Pac-10 teams want to get into the BIG PICTURE? Win your games! Hats off to Oklahoma for coming back and showing the nation why they are Oklahoma and deserve to be respected as a "top tier program". Oregon! You aren't there yet!

Do you hear that ?????? Either my truck has a flat tire or all the air is going out of Oregon's football team. Oregon fans you are right, you should not be playing in this ball game !!!! You should have had a rematch with Houston in the "Who cares Bowl". An average at best Oklahoma team is smacking you in the mouth and the only thing you are concerned about is your gay uniforms..........Ya tree-hugging freaks are getting beatlike a drum !!!! 3 and out 3 and out 3 and out, either it's a bad porn movie or it's the Oregon offense. Tune into the ND vs (t)OSU game if you want to see what the BCS is all about !!!! The ducks are in fact OVERRATED..........

Got interesting at the end........Once again bad officials !!!!! Oregon gets Oklahoma again next year........Oregon is OVERRATED !!!!! take your $750,000 and get on the bus home. Next week you guys can play Cal in the "No Respect Anti-BCS Bowl" and admit that the only team in the PAC-10 that should get the big money games is USC !!!
    Go Irish and Go Longhorns..........

Get off the field, Ducks! Your a silly little school with silly little uniforms! You have disgraced the Pac-10. I have tried to stick up for your ideas that you got shafted by the BCS. I was wrong. You had only lost once because you did not have to play UCLA - or, you would have lost twice. Well, that was not a terribly strong Oklahoma team this year - and, they just pushed the Quacks all over the field. Strange thing is: the Quacks had a chance to win the game, and Brady Leaf (Ryan's little bro), wee-wee's all over himself near the goal line and tosses away the game winning interception. What else is new? I heard that the Quacks felt slighted that they didn't get anymore respect than they got. Well, you just got set back another few years. Why should BCS selection commitee's take this program seriously? It was your chance to take your place at the table, and instead, the Ducks barfed all over themselves. Well, better luck next time! Only don't start cryin' next time your left out of "the BIG MONEY" game. You've got to earn your seat at the table.

A blind man could pick out a better uniform combination than the one's the Ducks wear week end and week out. This is starting to resemble a scenario similar to an unpopular kid allowing himself to made fun of just so he can hang out with the cool guys. Maybe its hard for a team to play with a lot of pride when they are so used to having to swallow what little they do have. This reminds me of the Adam Sandler movie, "Big Daddy", where he allows the little boy to dress himself in whatever he wants. A quick solution to this wardobe disaster would be to replace the burnt out light in the locker room so the Oregon players don't have to get dressed in the dark.

I might be one of the few who actually gives Oregon a break when it comes to uniforms. I mean, come on, I think it's pretty cool to be the only team that has piss-yellow uniforms. I also think their helmet is great. But now, three different helmets next year? The next thing you'll probably hear is that Oregon will add some powderblue and silver to their scheme.

That Guy, you're right. He's the sugar dadday of the school, so if that's what he wants, that's what he'll get and Oregon will do as he says.

And here I thought it was all about marketing your product to increase the sales of your merchandise.

The uniforms are obnoxious I admit (but hey, I like them) but not as obnoxious as Tommie Trojan...I don't think you've actually beaten Texas yet. Despite your anti Duck rant, I hope that you do win. You make it real hard for this Pac 10 fan to root for USC on January 4th. You might want to send your fanblog comments the morning after your benders...sounds like you were hitting the Jack Daniels pretty hard last night.

Duck bashers lighten up. We had a great season and can hold our heads high. No one at the start of the season would have predicted a 10-2 Duck record. Oklahoma is going to be great next year and the Sooner fans that I met in San Diego are looking forward to coming to Eugene to play the Ducks. I believe in the adage that "Losers buy the drinks" and I did run up a hefty tab at the Hotel after the game. They considered this upset of Oregon a great springboard to get a very young team back into the BCS picture. They showed a lot of class after the game.

Knowledgeable Duck fans were not crying foul over the BCS selection as there were no at large berths available. We didn't get jobbed. OSU and ND automatically qualified. The BCS conference sent their champions...end of discussion.

We could have easily lost to UA, Cal and WSU this year and ended up 7-4...but the fact is we did win these games (without Clemmens). Yeah we were over-rated, but so what? It's not an infallible system, ratings are subjective in nature.

Tommie Trojan, I hope your boys of Troy live up to their hype. Looking forward to coming to LA next fall, let me know which of our 9 uniform combinations you prefer and I'll speak to the team. I don't want you to get upset over our lack of fashion sense?,

Easy on the sauce and please don't drink and blog Tommie.

Why is everyone crying!!! Oregon is right where they belong. Aside from TOP HEAVY USC, the rest of the PAC-10 is just taking up space. Sure back in the day the PAC-10 was something to talk about, but now, they're just talk. Maybe the rest of the conference need Chrome helmets to knock the TROJANS down.

    Tommie,

I'd like to offer a short history lesson to refresh your memory about USC and the Pac-10.

Historically, USC has been the premier team in the Pac-10, especially over the last few years.

But during your Salad Days of 1996 - 2001 it wasn't the case.

    1996 6-6 (3-5) and no Bowl Game
    1997 6-5 (4-4) and no Bowl Game
1998 8-5 (5-3) lost in the Sun Bowl
    1999 6-6 (3-5) and no Bowl Game
    2000 5-7 (2-6) and no Bowl Game
2001 6-6 (5-3) lost in the Las Vegas Bowl

I don't recall anyone trying to run USC out of the conference then.

Congratulations on a great season and I wish you continued success.

If your Trojans should fall from their lofty pedastel and be unable to continue their string of victories, many of your "fans" will disappear as quickly as they jumped on the band-wagon. One thing that your Pac-10 opponents know is there is nothing more sad and pathetic than a half full (or half empty) LA Coliseum.

Your current run is incredible, but don't assume that it will last forever. Arrogance has always been synonymous with USC. I truly hope The Ducks get a chance to end your amazing streak...for that reason only, I will be pulling for Troy on Jan 4th.

    Don't disappoint.

My goodness, what is with this bad mouthing of the PAC-10 like there is some Confernce out there that is better or something. Oregon didn't just bow down, there was a bad throw by the Quarterback and a great effort by the man that intercepted the ball. OU is a good football team when they have a healthy Adrian Peterson. I think they would of had a fighting chance against UT if he was healthy.

On another note SC is not arrogant. It's just rich with so much football tradition due to it s record from as early as 1928. People hate on this school so much, it just needs to stop. Somebody name a more humble person than Reggie Bush or Matt Leinart?

Guys, Oregon Duck football is about to change BIG TIME. Uniforms? You haven't seen amything yet! Nike has hired Wayne "Woodchips" Blackwell to coordinate costumes, er, uniforms for the team next year.

Expect a lot of pastel colors ala Miami Vice to be used. Light veridian pants with a soft Naples yellow stripe. Tops will feature a tri-color theme heavy on the Emerald Green, Yellow Ochre #2, and Lemon Yellow #4.

After an unsuccessful attempt at capturing the nation's attention with a Times Square billboard, The Ducks are hoping that the new color combos will attract certain segments of the San Francisco and Martha's Vineyard populace.

    Time will tell.

Notre Dame 444 - your comments are hilarious and I agree with everything you said.

The Mayor - I agreed with everything you said up until the last paragraph.

The Pac-10 is just a media show. From Oregon's uniforms to USC's media stunts (like the suicide prank). I don't know whats going to happen to ESPN once USC's streak ends. Maybe USC will perform the uniform stunt to get attention when the day eventually comes that Troy crumbles and they go back to being nobodies.

Me - I'm just waiting for California, the gay people, the treehuggers, and the whole Pac-10 to just float off to sea and become its own media enthralled-amuesment park-hollywood-country. Think of the new gay movies that could come out like Brokeback Mountain. Think of all the new MTV shows. Hopefully ESPN would move out there too. Then the U.S. could dominate a country in football year after year in the Summer Olympics.

It's undescribable how perfect that would be.

I'm just waiting for the Ducks to thrash the Trojans... Then we'll see who laughs.

Its bull shit that people lash out at the ducks. They seem to be the only ones that anyone complins about. Why? 'Cause they are fighting the BS-Series. Do you hear anyone else getting bashed? No. Do you see anyone else fighting it? No. Those schools that 'have' weight, choose to sit by and profit from it. la USC, Texas, ND... Oregon always has been a scapegoat in one form or another. Just wait, one of these years (hopefully when i'm there) Oregon is going to prove that they can play. I mean, if oregon sucks so bad. Then why is Haloti Ngata looking to be a top 10, if not top 5? Yes, he's from Oregon. Shock? Gasps? Its true...he's from Oregon.

    Lucas,

"Luke, I am your father." The Ducks, like the rest of the Pac-10 make a good coin every year from the guaranteed BCS bid money that is earned by the PAC-10 champ and split by the conference.

I don't live in Eugene anymore so I have not heard of the U of O trying to secede from the BCS system.

We may have gotten a raw deal in 2001-2002 but I think we showed we were not worthy of a BCS Bid this year with our performance in the Holiday Bowl. We still cashed in on the Pac-10 share of the Rose Bowl dollars thanks to USC. Do you propose to give that money back to USC?

Still, all in all, we over achieved this season and can be proud of our record.

I think it's ironic that the Trojan fans above are harping on the Ducks. Possibly "the best college football team ever"? Backed up their talk by...losing. That's right. Oregon was picked to stink this year and finished with a great record. The Trojans had the whole nation picking them to win, all the Hollywood glitz and glamour, the hype the hoopla, and all the spoiled players...Peter Carroll who bragged that they don't really recruit anymore (the just get who they want) and what do they do at the big game? Choke.

Well, just got done checking out, about the coolest uni's of all time. Oregon has once again done the impossible, out done itself. So original, so tight, and a new yellow helmet coming too?!?!? woo hoo! Oh yes, our Ducks are going all the way to the top. SC is back down to reality, OU comes to Autzen, (where great teams come to die..Michigan, Wisconsin, etc, etc,)From what I read on here, people are jealous. I think the people on FOX Sports NET said it best "Oregon is like that kid you grew up with who had all the coolest toys, they always have the coolest stuff" Well, enough of me going on and on. I'll leave you all with a name...Jonathan Stewart #28...5'11, 234, 4.3 40, last year led the nation, LED THE NATION, in kick returns...oh yeah, Snoop is the man!
