The Oregon Duck will beat your arse
The Oregon Duck mascot has a history of being involved in many (mostly staged) mascot fights.
Addicted to Quack notes that it's a running tradition that the Duck gives a minor beat down to the Oregon State Beaver during the annual games hosted in Eugene, while playing the heel during games in Corvallis and taking his smack like a man... err... duck.
But when the Ducks played the Houston Cougars, something different happened - an unscheduled, un-rehearesed, "full-on" mascot fight ensued. Not once, but twice. And it has become a YouTube legend.
ATQ breaks it down from the Oregon camp.
With the Houston incident, most of us thought that it was planned out, except that it was much more violent than anything we've ever seen before, so you had to wonder if there was something there.Well, it turns out that there was something there. Apparently, there were two separate incidents involving two separate students in the Duck costume. They took exception to the Cougar doing pushups--a Duck trademark, and proceeded to beat his ass. Twice.
The University of Oregon has suspended both students who split time as the Duck, and have banned the mascot from the Fresno State game completely. A little overboard? Maybe. Maybe not.
But I'll tell you this -- I am SERIOUSLY looking forward to anything Don King can set up for the Stanford - Oregon game this year.

The "big elbow" drop at 27 seconds is pretty sweet. Could only be bested by The Macho Man, coming off the top turn buckle. lol. But seriously - how much could it hurt to hit a mascot costume in the head. I vote 100% staged.

That's hilarious! Kinda makes you wonder who'd win the mascot fight between Florida State and USC, doesn't it?

Ahahahaaa, that's amazing... I love the cheerleaders trying to break it up, and how much swagger that Duck has...we should recruit whatever student that was to come be Sebastian the Ibis. Although I liked the new Sebastian at the Marshall game

Wasn't there another 'real' fight between mascots a few years ago? Anyone remember who it was?
Don't mess with the Oregon duck. Everyone knows that UO offers one of most challenging 'Mime' majors in the country. Some former ducks go on to have big careers in France. Robert Shields, of "Shields and Yarnell" fame is an Oregon grad.
Okay, I made that last part up.

I remember that fight between the 2 mascots. If I can remember correctly; one of the mascots pulled off the head of the other, which supposedly is a big ethics violation in the mascot world.
However, I can't remember the teams. I think they were division II teams.

If the fight wasn't staged, then what is going on with the student only receiving a one game suspension. Shouldn't it be a lot longer for a student representing the school as a mascot getting into a fight on the field and sideline.

Looks like it worked, it was even on entertainment tonight-Alot of exposure for the Ducks.Who was in the Cougar suit and how did they let that Duck get the better of them.
Staged I dont think so, last we heard the Cougar signed up for karate classes while the Duck is attending anger managment theropy.

Are you sure you're a Huskie? True Huskies don't give a rats ass about the Ducks.
If The Ducks are classless in the Pac-10, I can't even imagine where that places the storied Huskies program...I always love getting my car keyed in Seattle by those great Huskie fans!
Personally, I am pulling for Ty Willingham as a coach and for your team to rise up from the bottom 3 of the league, don't tell the Duck, "she'll" kick my ass. It isn't any fun to play the Dawgs when they are so pathetic. By the way Dan, the whole thing was staged you boob, the Duck was in the Press Box during the FSU game and got a standing ovation at Autzen when "she" appeared on Jumbotron.

Kevin,
I am so afraid of The Duck Mascot fallout, I am staying home and watching the game on TV rather than going to the Stanford game down the road and getting my ass kicked by that mean ol' Stanford Tree (it was an Indian in my day). By the way, the tree is pretty hip.
Well, I am actually signed up for for 36 holes of golf on Saturday in Napa and the game is at 7PM in Palo Alto, 2 hours away..Pac 10 night games are always a drag.
I'd love to go to an SEC night game, I bet they don't roll up the sidewalks like we do on the West Coast. Anyone?
