Beavers to visit Beaver Stadium
It's officially official.
The long rumored contract to bring the Oregon State Beavers to Beaver Stadium is now signed, sealed, and delivered.
Oregon State will play at Penn State on September 6, 2008, in a game to be televised by ABC/ESPN.
The Nittany Lions will pay OSU $800,000 for the visit. Television revenue increases the payday to $1.1 million.
"Any time you can play a team of historic proportions and play a team coached by a hall of fame coach (Joe Paterno), you go for it," De Carolis said. "It’s a great venue to play in. It’s going to be loud and raucous. It will be a great experience for our kids, similar to LSU. But make no mistake; we are going to win the game."
In addition to the PSU game, Oregon State re-released it's schedule with date changes to the Utah and Southern Cal games.

Aug. 28 or 30: at Stanford
Sept. 6: at Penn State (ABC or ESPN), 12:30 p.m.
Sept. 13: vs. Hawaii
Sept. 20: bye
Sept. 25: vs. USC
Oct. 2: at Utah

Oct. 18: at Washington
Oct. 25: bye
Nov. 1: vs. Arizona State (Homecoming)

Some may get on here and argue that it is irony that causes the Beavers to play in Beaver stadium next year, but it is, in fact, coincidence, not irony.
Here's hoping that JoPa doesn't keel over before the Beavers can enjoy their game against a hall of fame coach. To hedge themselves, perhaps Oregon State can schedule a game with Florida State just to be on the safe side.
Still waiting on that historic Oregon State-South Carolina matchup to get scheduled, when sophomoric humor will never be the same again...

Otherwise, good move. Should be a good match-up. Now, I believe in being positive and with the right coaching & personnel OR St can beat a Joe Pa coached team, but I don't think I'd be penciling that one in the win column just yet.
