Beavers get new classic look uniform

Oregon State will be sporting new Nike uniforms this season, one year after adopting the blight on uniform history formerly known as the "bra jersey".

The new look harkens back to the most traditional of football jersey design - also known as awesome/plain/bland, depending on who you ask - with very traditional single color uniforms accented a two contasting color stripes on the sleeve. The interlocking OS appears at the base of the collar, in keeping with the school's plan to use the interlocking OS in all sports.

Even though it's a basic uniform design, there are probably going to be as many people who love them as hate them, for the simple reason that they are so spartan, especially when compared to that... stuff... they're earing up in Eugene.

Beavers coach Mike Riley credited Nike with helping the the school get back to its blue collar roots.

"I gotta say I'm very appreciative of Nike," Riley said. "They called me about this, wanting to head off on a new course with our uniforms, one they felt fit the theme of Oregon State better, and I agree whole-heartedly, and I love them."

That left an obvious question: What is Oregon State's theme?

"Oh, you know, I see Oregon State as pretty much, a pretty simple identity, hard working, just kind of what you see is what you get kind of a deal," he said. "I think every program has either an identity they want or an identity they have, and I see our group as pretty much hard working, lunch bucket and the simpler (uniform) lines kind of fit that with me."

You know... simple, hard working, what you see is what you get... with the occassional drunken player and a gay sheep saga thrown in for good measure.
