Kevin Kelly hired at Georgetown

The Georgetown Hoyas have hired Kevin Kelly to be their new head coach. Kelly has served as special teams and linebackers coach at the Naval Academy for the past four years. Before coming to Navy, he was at Marshall from 1996-1998 and 2000-2001 (defensive coordinator.) He was at Syracuse from 1986-1988 (grad assistant and assistant LB coach) and in 1999 (defensive backs.) He also coached linebackers at Tulane from 1992-1994. Prior to Tulane, he coached linebackers and offensive backs at Dartmouth. Kelly also has coached at Northeastern, Bowdoin and Southern Connecticut State.

Kelly recruited Byron Leftwich while at Marshall and has been primary responsible for recruiting the mid-Atlantic region. Former Hoyas head coach Bob Benson resigned last month after 13 years on the job. The only other name floated in the media before Kelly's hiring was Brian White of Wisconsin.
