Paterno shot down Penn State - Florida State game
The Philidelphia Daily News lets fly with this gem buried in a hodge-podge of college football notes:
A source familiar with Florida State and Penn State says FSU wanted to play the Nittany Lions at a neutral site (most likely the Meadowlands or Washington), but Penn State chose not to schedule it. The last time Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden faced each other was the 1990 Blockbuster Bowl, which the Seminoles won, 24-17. The last regular-season meeting was 1975, Bowden's last year at West Virginia. The Nits won that one, 39-zip.
This one reeks of a tried-and-true professional wrestling promotion: Loser leaves town. While I would love to watch Florida State blast Penn State, I simply couldn't get past the whole 'loser must retire' angle.
Is there any truth to the PSU-FSU rumor? Probably not, otherwise it wouldn't be buried in a throw away CFB article from an unnamed source.

Florida State is still strong, and Penn State is, well, not. It wouldn't even be close. It would actually be kind of sad to watch the Noles bulldoze PSU, I imagine.
