Jay Paterno spends office hours promoting Obama
Everyone is entitled to their political opinions, even Penn State assistant coach Jay Paterno. So it's not that surprising that the younger Paterno has a blog supporting Obama.
What is surprising is that Jay Paterno spends time blogging for Obama during office hours instead of -- you know -- coaching.
Jay even did a little sparring with a fellow poster who suggested he spend more time improving a disgustingly mediocre offense instead of blogging about Obama.By Joe Eb from York, PA Jun 20th 2008 at 9:52 am EDT And Jay you should be worrying about the offense of a college football team that has a LOT of questions, not blogging about Obama.
By Jay Paterno Jun 20th 2008 at 10:02 am EDT For your information our offense was #1 in the Big Ten last year in the only two categories that we really look at: the key situations of Red Zone and Third Downs (and to a lesser extent 4th downs where we ranked #7 in the nation).…And to a lesser extent, #8 in the Big Ten in Passing Offense (You are a f****** QB COACH after all, Jay), #5 in Rushing Offense, #7 in Total Offense, #8 in Pass Efficiency, and #1 in Penalties.
Eleven Warriors points to Paterno defending his deleting comments at his blog.
Zack Mills, Galen Hall, Anthony Morelli and RichRod are all commenting and as you might have guessed, they’re all hammering him about football. It appears as if Jay is deleting these comments, even going so far as to respond to defend censorship accusations:They were deleted because they have no relevance to this campaign. They are comments that belong on football web sites and not political web sites. If you want to discuss football feel free to e-mail me and I will happily discuss anything you want.It is not censorship it is called relevance.
Still, many comments are getting through, including one asking Jay what he was doing tending to the blog at 10AM on a Friday morning (he defended this as well). You have to wonder how long they can keep this blog up.
Regardless of his politics, I would be *livid* that Paterno is blogging during "office hours" if I were a Penn State fan. Stay tuned... I think this one might heat up before the summer's out.
