Long out at San Diego State

Despite the reassurances of AD Jeff Schemmel, ESPN is reporting that Chuck Long has been fired as head coach of the San Diego State Aztecs.

San Diego State has fired coach Chuck Long, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Joe Schad on Sunday.

The Aztecs athletic department has scheduled a news conference for 4 p.m. ET Sunday, regarding an announcement about its football program, according to the school's Web site.
