Spurrier: Thanks, but no thanks

Steve Spurrier, the long time Florida Gator legend, told the school that he was not interested in a return engagement.

Spurrier told Athletic Director Jeremy Foley "...he's done his thing here and he just thinks it's better for us to go find a coach who will be here for the next 10 or 15 years."

This clears the path for Foley to begin looking in other directions for the future coach of Florida Football.

    I've heard specuatation on ESPN's Dan Patrick show that Spurrier might try the NFL waters again next year with the Dolphins, should Dave Wandstandt get the boot.

    I don't think he's going back to the NFL. Can't say why exactly, just a gut feeling. I think *if* he decides to coach next year, it'll be in Austin. Which would be great, just for the annual Spurrier/Stoops showdown.

    Oh boy, does this remind anyone of a few years ago? I still haven't figured out how they're going to recruit. I mean seriously, are they sending the mascot into kids' houses?

    Nooooooooooooooo, please say Doug Williams won't take the Gators job. I have fond memories of him from his Super Bowl win with the Redskisn. I'd hate to have to hate him now.
