ESPN, SEC partner to create SEC Network
In leiu of launching their own broadcast network, the Southeastern Conference announced a syndication network with ESPN that will bring SEC football, basketball, and other sports to nearly 50% of the country.
The new "SEC Network" moniker, is essentially the marketing name for the syndication deal that the SEC signed with ESPN last year, rather than it's own independent broadcast & production enterprise like the one created by the Big 10 in 2007.
Southeastern Conference football and basketball games not shown on ESPN networks will be available in more than 54 million homes on the SEC Network, the new name for the league's syndication deal with ESPN.
The SEC previously had syndication agreements with Raycom, which broadcast the syndicated games under the Raycom Sports moniker.
