Not Really An SEC Story, But...

There's no category for Division I-AA Independents here (what's up with that???) but I can sort of tie this to Kentucky and Vanderbilt, since it involves their former coaches. So there.

After an 18-year football hiatus due to budgetary constraints, the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana University are back. Yep. They had a massive fundraising drive, and hired recently Kentucky Fired Hal Mumme and Vandy Has-been Woody Widenhoffer, and guess what? They're 2-0!

Folks down here are talking about it, in that "awwww, isn't that cute" sort of way. But who knows? A few more wins and we might pile into the minivan and make the drive to Hammond, LA for a game, assuming it doesn't conflict with LSU's schedule. I'll keep you posted on the Lions' progress here, just in case you're halfway interested.

I'm considering going to the SLU/McNeese game, if it doesn't conflict with LSU of course.

I watched their first game on TV, it was a pretty good game

Yeah, I've watched the replays of both games so far. Pretty entertaining.

If you really want to, Dave, I'll make ya a little D-IIA category in the NCAA blog. But it's a slippery slope, there's a lot of teams to cover. Don't believe me, just check the schedules of some college "powerhouse teams" - KState (for one) immediately comes to mind.

Nah, that's ok. I'll just post updates on the Lions here if any are warranted. A SWAC category might be worth doing though. I do keep up with both Southern and Grambling.
