Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer

Get ready 'Bama fans, an excellent homage to college football is headed your way and it's wearing Crimson and White, with a little Houndstooth to boot. Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer is everything we love about college football: the incredible atmosphere of a home game Saturday, the taste & smells of a tailgate party done right, the parking lot brotherhood of away games, and the unmistakable feel of fan mania.

Regardless of what colors you wear on Saturday, you're going to love Rammer Jammer. It's a great travel journal/fan's diary - the perfect combination of what happens on the field and what happens off. Warren St. John spent five months traveling with the 'Bama RV Nation in "The Hawg" and has some great stories to tell from it. From trying to be accepted by the regulars to finding the perfect tailgate food, Rammer Jammer is witty & fun. It makes you wish that you could be out there chasing the team around this fall.

OK, I confess: we don't really do "books" here at Fanblogs. But I'm telling you, this one manages to tap into the emotion of being a fan - something that no one person has ever been able to define. From the died in the wool, Crimson and White casket fan to the relative outsider/new to the traditions fan -- they're all represented in this book.

Do yourself a favor - go out and buy Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer. You'll love it and you'll love collge football even more. And, who knows, maybe we'll all end up RV-ing around the country one day! Roll Tide!

   I'm reading Rammer Jammer and it is hilarious. I was prepared to hate it because I'm a Vols fan who grew up part of my life in Louisiana -- a double dose of Bama hating. It hasn't made me like the Tide (and it won't) but it has made me like the writer.

   So I finally got my copy in the mail two days ago, and I'm about 7 chapters in, and I have two words for this book so far.

   Absolutely hilarious.

   Great read, I flew threw the first big chunk, going to try to polish off the rest this weekend.

   Tons of insight, great small stories and the way St. John recreates the game day atmosphere is spot on.

   I'm about the farthest you can get from being a Alabama Fan, and I have enjoyed this book.
