MSU backup QB walks
Coach Croom warned that if Mississippi State players didn't like competition, then they were in the wrong place. Apparently backup QB Aries Nelson agreed, as he quit the team and left school. Despite being listed as #2 on the spring depth chart, Nelson told Croom he "had to leave". Nelson asked for and received his release from MSU, so he could transfer to DI-AA and play right away.
