Summers Doubtful for Game at Bama

Running Back Demetris Summers is listed as doubtful for South Carolina's trip to Alabama this Saturday, but he still hopes to play.

Summers suffered a high ankle sprain and has been out 2 and a half weeks already. He was held out of Saturday's win against Troy as a precautionary measure and the Gamecocks' training staff and Coach Lou Holtz are concerned about rushing him back too early since a high sprain can linger and often requires 4-6 weeks to recover - even longer for skill position players in some cases.

Summers was injured twice last season and some Gamecock fans have expressed concerns about his durability. Some have even compared him to the oft-injured T.A. McClendon at N.C. State.

Not that it's good when someone gets injured but after Alabama's performance against Arkansas, we need all the help we can get.
