Ten reasons Auburn loses

This might be a little biased, but the UT Vol's Blog has 10 reasons why Auburn loses tonight in Knoxville:

Tennessee 31 Auburn 13

Here's why: I don't necessarily think that Tennessee is 17 points better than Auburn, but if Tennessee gets any kind of lead in this game and makes Auburn pass, catching up is going to be very difficult for the Tigers, er, um, War Eagles.

1. Even as freshmen, I'd take Ainge and Schaeffer and their freshman mistakes over and experienced Jason Campbell.

2. Munoz and Sears at tackles for the Vols. This Tennessee O-line is playing tremendous tackle football right now...and will only get better. I think Tennessee is better in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Hopefully they will prove it Saturday night.

3. Neyland at night.

4. Special teams. I look for some big plays here. Colquit hasn't had the best kicks so far, but I think he's due. UT's punt returners have yet to find a knack for even fielding the punts, but hopefully this week will be different and they'll get some precious yardage out of this facet of the game.

5. Cadillac and Ronnie Brown. Tennessee heard Bo Jackson's name a lot before the '85 game too. Hmmmm.

I mentioned there were 10 reasons, so you'll have to check out the rest at the UT Vols Blog.

Well - I believe that is over 31 - 3 @ half. No defense at all and three turnovers so no sustained offense... I hope the Vols can turn it around, but I believe the best we can hope for is to slow Auburn's offense meaning we will not be able to catch them.

OOPS. Those Tennessee writers got a little too excited. After all, a little home-field help from the officials against Florida is the only reason the Vols' SEC loss tonight wasn't their 2ND.

You might not want to get so cocky next time around. Those "tigers, er, um War Eagles" layed it on the Vols pretty hard despite the much talked about "intimidating home field." Watching the game on TV, I agree there was a nasty roar coming from the stadium, but I'm afraid that was due to the Tiger fans. I'm afraid the Vols were the intimidated ones.

Yeah, looks like the Vol's blog's got some 'splaining to do.

    Kevin,
    A sampling of his response:
This game went exactly as I had envisioned, except it was the exact opposite.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit the game went completely Auburn the whole time. No problem with that, except that it hurst like heck. The game actually reminded me of some of the Tennessee-Florida games of the past decade where the Gators would make some big plays early and eat up all of the momentum and energy of their opponents.

Give credit to Auburn, they played great. I would still argue that the game 'could' have gone otherwise, but on this night, Auburn was clearly superior.

Ahhh yes. There's nothing quite like an Auburn fan if you're looking for a classy or gracious winner.

Having attended this game, I have to tell you that I was trying to figure out who gave up first - the UT players, or the UT fans?
I have never been to a game in which the home team's fans had almost completely evacuated so early in the 4th quarter.

In the end I concluded that the UT fans figured out that their team had quit in the early part of the 3rd quarter, debated leaving, then decided to hit the road.

This was one of the worst, Old Testament style ass-whuppins' I have ever witnessed a visiting team lay on the home team. Particulary when both teams are ranked.

But I suppose that this is why rankings are worthless.

Vols might go 8-3, 9-2 if they're lucky.
Auburn's probably looking at 10-1, and will play in the SEC title.
