Campbell Silences Doubters- Part Two
In another big game, the Auburn Tigers faced another "superior" opponent and again emerged victorious. This time, no late penalties were necessary as the Tigers crushed Tennessee 34-10 behind the red-hot first half of quarterback Jason Campbell. Campbell is continuing to prove to his critics, including most Auburn fans, that he is the player who can lead Auburn to their first national championship since 1953. Beware of the Tigers and their newly-confident quarterback, who is looking more and more like the one who can restore glory to the Plains.
All this is detailed in Pat Forde's new article over on ESPN.

War Eagle!!!!
From Pat Forde's ESPN.COM article:Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer has pretty well quarantined his quarterbacks from the media, but Ainge took his once-a-week chance to talk and said too much about the Tigers. The quote that became must reading in the Auburn locker room:
"They're corners are pretty good, and I think their secondary thinks they're pretty good. ... They're big, strong, physical people, but I think we have the best receiving corps, one through eight, in the country. And they haven't faced a team like us yet."
"(Ainge) was talking a lot of trash in the paper," Rosegreen said. "We knew he signed a big check he couldn't cash."
Erik Ainge will next be available to the media in 2007.
Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville:
"All week long I heard about how great their two quarterbacks are." "I wouldn't trade either for the one we got. He did a tremendous job controlling the game."

pinged on Oct 4, 2004 7:22 PMI must say I despise the segment of our Auburn fans who do not have faith in our team. I was so happy to see Campbell get player of the game during the AU/TENN game that I almost cried. Poor guy. He is really stepping up this year and shutting a lot...

Eagle, Eagle, War D.a.m.n. Eagle!!!
