Spurrier Leaves Door Wide Open for Possible UF Return
While analysts and fans have to tried to dimiss the possiblity of Steve Spurrier returning to Gainesville for a repeat engagement as Florida Gators' head coach, the Ol' Ball Coach seemed open to that possibility today. Spurrier told the Orlando Sentinel he expected to discuss the job with Florida officials at some point.
After the word got around, former UF coach Steve Spurrier spoke with the Orlando Sentinel from the Heathrow Country Club golf course in Seminole County, where he is golfing today.
"I'll cross that bridge if it comes to that," Spurrier said. "One thing I've tried to do all this year is not be lingering around acting like I'm waiting for another guy's job. I don't believe that's the right way to do it. But now that he (Zook) doesn't have a job, I guess there will be some discussions. We'll see what happens."
Such talk will only fuel the intense speculation surrounding which direction Florida will turn to improve its football fortunes. With Spurrier dropping hints that he's interested, can the UF administration afford not to extend him an offer?

With this coming from Spurrier, the UF administration basically has no choice but to hire him. Any other choice will get them burned at the stake along with the new guy the first time UF loses a game under his command.

The old gym that was next to the football stadium burned down during the LSU game in 1996. I was just curious what the context of the joke was. Besides, Spurrier only hated Auburn because they ruined Florida's number one ranking 3 times (1993, 1994, 2001).
