Florida calls Spurrier
ESPN is reporting something that's been brewing on the message boards for two days: Florida officials have called Steve Spurrier to see if he wants to return as Head Coach.
ESPN's Jim Donnan added that the school has given Spurrier 24 hours to fish or cut bait, then the school is going to move on in it's selection process. If Spurrier would return, the former coach would want Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator & former Husker head coach Bo Pellini on his staff, the source told Donnan.
Florida AD Jeremy Foley is denying the report:
denied the report Tuesday night. "There's absolutely no basis to that at all," Foley said. "We've got a little time. Why would 24 hours make a difference?"
This is either a great internet rumor, or it's true because it's been popping up everywhere since last night. Why 24 hours asks Foley? Because that would give the Gators the opportunity to do the one thing UF needs to do: move on. Appease the fans but avoid a public (and expensive) courtship. Why leak it? Duh. Appease the fans but avoid a public (and expensive) courtship.

What I do buy is that they've contacted him. Who believes that they wouldn't? Just be stright up and say, "Yes, in our persuit of a new coach, any coach with good experience is qualified...that includes Spurrier."
Sheesh! Why the dance? If Spurrier called in 24 days and not in 24 hours, do you think they'd say "no"? I don't.
