South Carolina 35, Arkansas 32

South Carolina won its 500th game in school history and the 6th win of the season Saturday against Arkansas. It was their first loss against the Gamecocks for the Razorback seniors, including Matt Jones. Lou Holtz's team is bowl-eligible again for the first time since 2001 after going 0-8 in November the past two seasons.

Holtz was drenched in Gatorade and presented the game ball as he got his second win against his former employer in six tries.

Dondrial Pinkins re-injured his shoulder in the first half and was replaced by Syvelle Newton at quarterback. QB Matt Jones rushed for a career best 111 yards on the ground for the Hogs.

The Razorbacks scored to make it 32-28 with a few minutes remaining and seemed to have the momentum, but Newton and the Gamecock offense marched it down the field on a drive that was capped by a 14-yard touchdown pass to Troy Williamson with 1:09 left in the game.

South Carolina has remaining regular season games with Florida and at Clemson. Most post-season speculation at this point puts the Gamecocks in Atlanta for the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

What a game! (and I don't particularly like either of these teams) If you didn't watch this one you missed a real classic. Don't be surprised if SC knocks off Florida. They're definitely vulnerable, and SC has momentum.

Arkansas wins this game if the officials aren't so horrible. The early whistle was a game-changer that took the air out of the Razorbacks. No way a ref's mistake should cost a team a huge play like that.

I, too, am a Hog fan and disappointed at the momentum-changing bad call early in the game. However, the Hoge defense lost this game. South Carolina earned it and they should be commended.

I am tired of having a losing football team. I am convince that we do not need more medicore coaches atr arkansas. It is time for the unversity to shake the good ole boy policy and to bring in outside blood. I would love to see steve spurrier as the head coach at arkansas. Time for the nuts to go....................

Hey guys I am Gamecock fan and agree the call was not a good one and can empathize because honestly we have not had a call our way in three years. Our program truly is on a firm foundation but need a coach to take us to next level and think that Lou may step down. Rumor here is that Lou is about to hand program to good friend Steve Spurrier has anyone heard anything on this?

Fueled by the Gamecocks' 6th win, the rumors have grown even stronger in Columbia this week that South Carolina Coach Lou Holtz will go out a winner and step down after this season. The name of former Florida Coach Steve Spurrier has been mentioned wit...
