Arkansas offers job to Herring
News reports in Fayetteville indicate that Houston Nutt has offered the job of defensive coordinator on the Arkansas staff to N.C. State defensive coordinator Reggie Herring. Nutt and Herring were graduate assistants together under Head Coach Jimmy Johnson at Oklahoma State in 1981.
News reports in Raleigh indicate that Wolfpack Head Coach Chuck Amato told N.C. State AD Lee Fowler that Herring is expected to leave. State, who already pays Herring $194,500 a year, has indicated they will try to persuade him to stay.
Herring previously served as Defensive Coordinator at Clemson and TCU. His most recent job before N.C. State was as linebackers coach for the Houston Texans. Herring is a member of the Florida State Hall of Fame.
