Ole Miss picks bar-room brawler Orgeron

Southern Cal Assistant Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator Ed Orgeron will be introduced as the new head coach at Ole Miss at 10:00a on Thursday.

Orgeron has 19 years of coaching expreience at Southern Cal, Syracuse, Miami, Nichols State and Arkansas, among other.

Orgeron wound up at Nicholls State after he was fired at Miami following a bar-room brawl in 1993. Orgeron reportedly head-butted the Baton Rouge club's manager. The bar manager dropped the charges and the case was settled out of court.

Orgeron is known as a tough yet personable coach, a big guy who relates to young men and inspires those around him.

Ole Miss Athletic Director Pete Boone said the coaching search went according to plan and he's pleased that they landed a coach with a high profile, roots in the South, and a reputation as an outstanding recruiter.
