Troy Williamson turning pro
South Carolina wide receiver Troy Williamson announced he is skipping his senior season and entering the NFL draft. Williamson caught 43 passes for 835 yards. He also scored seven touchdowns.

What in the heck is this guy thinking? His numbers could have been HUGE next year. Now he'll be little more than a late 2nd to 3rd round pick most likely.

He could *really* improve his draft rank by playing out his final year in Spurrier's offense. And as a USC fan, I was really looking forward to seeing him in that offense.
But then I thought about it for a while and realized that Williamson was able to put up really good numbers this year in a very conservative Lou Holtz offense and without the benefit of a standout QB. I also understand that TW's family needs some financial help, and he wants to provide for them sooner rather than later. It's basically a matter of deciding between guaranteed big money next year (granted, probably not as big as if he had played one more year at USC) or going out for a dozen more games as an amateur and risking serious injury. I don't know what I would do in that situation, but I can't really blame a kid for doing what's best for his family...
