UF's Fason Declares for NFL

New Florida coach Urban Meyer won't have one of the Gators' best offensive performers next season. Running back Ciatrick Fason, a junior who led the SEC in rushing this year, has declared for the NFL draft. This leaves the tailback spot wide open entering into spring drills, with juniors DeShawn Wynn and Skyler Thornton and redshirt freshman Markus Manson being the likely prospects.

The Miami Herald, in the same story, reports that sophomore LB Channing Crowder could opt to leave since he finished high school early and is eligible for the draft: "The only thing holding Crowder back is a foot injury that caused him to miss most of the final four games of the regular season. He might want to come back for a chance to win the Butkus Award and improve his standing in the draft. If he leaves now, Crowder is expected to be selected in the late first round or second round."
