UGA sued over insurance
Former UGA defensive back Decory Bryant, a senior at the school now, is suing the Georgia Athletics Association and fired Assistant AD Hoke Wilder. Bryant 's career ended because of an injury in the UAB game his junior season.
Bryant claims he had initiated contact with Wilder the week before to take part in the Exceptional Student Athlete Disability Insurance Program and that Wilder told him he didn't need to take care of the premium right away and that it would all be taken care of. The discussions with the insurance company had not been completed before the injury and they wouldn't backdate the forms pre-injury.
Bryant is suing for $500,000 (which would have been the payout on the policy) plus punitive damages.
