Minter, Oliver picked up by Notre Dame

Rick Minter and Jappy Oliver have been hired at Notre Dame by new head coach Charlie Weis after not being retained by new South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier. Dave Roberts (running backs) and Paul Lounsberry (defensive ends and special teams), who were not retained by Spurrier, have not landed jobs yet but are expected to possibly receive offers during the upcoming AFCA convention.

Minter, who will be defensive coordinator for the Irish, was most recently defensive coordinator for Lou Holtz at South Carolina for the 2004 season after being fired as head coach at Cincinnati. He previously coached at Notre Dame for two seasons under Holtz. Oliver coached defensive ends in 2003 and defensive linemen in 2004.

Kevin Donahue lists Oliver at DL coach in his post on Weis' staff.
