Updated: Fla. Recruiting Coordinator Joins Zook at Illinois
Mike Locksley, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Florida, has been offered the offensive coordinator spot at Illinois under new coach Ron Zook, the Gainesville Sun reports. Locksley, who was retained in his position by new UF coach Urban Meyer, will decide on Tuesday after returning from a visit to Champaign. Zook's first choice as OC, Larry Fedora, jumped to Oklahoma State for the same job in Stillwater. Meyer had been expected to install former Utah QB coach Dan Mullen as his offensive coordinator.
Update: Locksley took the Illinois job after meeting with Meyer on Tuesday night. "I wish that hadn't happened because I would have liked another year," Locksley said. "But it did and it's an opportunity I can't pass up."
