Six South Carolina players charged with theft
Six current & former South Carolina players were charged with theft of $18,000 worth of equipment from Williams-Brice. OL Woodly Telfort, who admitted to stealing a $4,000 laptop, is being charged with grand larceny. QBs Syvelle Newton & Dondrial Pinkins, DL Freddy Saint-Preux and safety Rodriques Wilson were charged with misdemeanor theft for admitting to stealing "action photos" of themselves from the Gamecocks' locker rooms.
A warrant is pending for a sixth player the school did not identify.
Saint-Preux and Telfort are already facing suspensions for the USC season opener for their involvement in a brawl with Clemson. Newton, Pinkins, and Wilson will be suspended at least until the charges against them are resolved.
Along with criminal charges, Telfort, Newton, Pinkins and Saint-Preux will face disciplinary hearings from the university. Wilson is no longer a student at South Carolina.
