Gamecock RB suspended
Cory Boyd, South Carolina's leading returning rusher, has been suspended from the team for violating athletic department policy. An athletic department spokeswoman says Boyd "is not a member of the football team."
Boyd is still a student at the university and coach Steve Spurrier responded to questions about Boyd's future with the football team by saying, "Ask me about August 1 and I’ll let you know."
Boyd's mother says he is trying to improve his grades and Spurrier said that he's working out with Gamecock alum Duce Staley during the summer. Boyd was one of seven players suspended from summer workouts last year because of academics. Despite his mother's statements, the official word is that the current suspension is not academically-related.
Boyd finished spring practice #2 behind Daccus Turman. Running backs Demetrius Summers (failed drug test) and Antonio Lamar (academics) left the team in the offseason.

Cory is currently in my summer school class and has been attending class regularly and as far as i can tell he is doing well in the class. As for athletes in general, i believe they do deserve special treatment! they bring a large amount of money into the university and put in more hours than other students. give him a break... wait and see what the coach has to say and try not to speculate!!!

To be young and nieve is one thing, to be yound and dumb is another. I wish these coaches would get guts and just start kicking these guys off the teams. Let em stay in school but kick em off the team and take away there scholarship.
