Moe Thompson transfers to Grambling

Former South Carolina defensive end Moe Thompson has received court permission to leave the state of S.C. to play football for the Grambling Tigers this season.

Thompson's attorney presented a letter from Grambling coach Melvin Spears offering a scholarship. The presiding judge gave Thompson permission to end electronic monitoring and to travel between S.C. and Louisiana. He was also give permission to travel to away games in other states but only while travelling with the team. Thompson will also have weekly phone calls back to S.C.

Thompson is still out on bond after being arrested in February and charged, along with teammate Kevin Mainord, with burglary after allegedly stealing electronics from dorm rooms. Both players were dismissed from the team by new Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier. Mainord previously indicated he would be transferring somewhere in Tennessee, possibly Chattanooga.
