Cory Boyd investigation underway
South Carolina running back Cory Boyd, who is already suspended for the season for "nonacademic" rules violations, missed practice Wednesday. It then came out that Boyd was being investigated by university police after he allegedly verbally abused a female student and her roommate. Boyd reportedly threatened to slash the tires on her vehicle over a debt. 2 hours later, the female student filed a report with police that a tire on her SUV had been flattened, causing $150 in damage.
Gamecocks head Coach Steve Spurrier's response:
I was just aware of what I read in the paper and what I’ve heard internally. As soon as I get a hold of him I guess we’ll hear his story. ... He’s not playing anyway, so I can’t suspend him. We’ll try to find out what happened, or if anything happened.
