USF accepts Sun Bowl invite

The South Florida Bulls - who once held visions of playing in a BCS bowl - have accepted an invitation to the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

"There was alot of factors, but the biggest was they were the highest-ranked team to us," said executive director Bernie Olivas. "It's always good to have Top 25 teams in your game, so that was the deciding factor. They beat West Virginia, which might be playing for the national championship and had a great win against Auburn."

The Sun Bowl selected the Big East team under a sharing agreement with the Gator Bowl and Big XII which allows the Gator Bowl to select a Big XII representative twice over the next four years.

With the Gator Bowl exercising its claim to the Big XII, it's likely that Texas Tech will be headed to Jacksonville.

The Bulls will likely face either Oregon or Oregon State, depending on the Pac 10 selection(s) in the BCS.

USF vs. Oregon or USF vs. Cal would be the Disappointment Bowl... USF looked so great early on (let's not forget that they beat Auburn and National Title candidate W.Va.), and seemed to fall apart with the pressure of being #2... Oregon lost Dixon and can't do a thing without him - after being #2... and Cal, well, who knows what the hell happened to Cal, after being #2...

    Man, sucks to be second.

R.I.P. Sean Taylor. Cane Nation has you and your family in our prayers. God bless, #26.

    cal over a dixonless oregon???
i guess cal beat oregon but cal has just fallen apart

cal has fallen to 7th in the pac 10 and i dont know if people realize how bad they are now

i think that they have lost five straight now

arizona state, UCLA, oregon, oregon state, and arizona would all go over cal

what i dislike is all of this bcs crap about georgia at #4 even though they didnt make the SEC championship
