7 Chattanooga players suspended during gang rape investigation
7 players for the Chattanooga Mocs have been suspended and will not make the trip to Appalachian State this weekend. The players were suspended for "curfew violations" that coincide with a gang rape complaint filed by an unknown female student at the school.
An attorney for some of the players confirms that they were suspended for being there at the time but contends that the encounter was consensual sex and "much more limited" than the allegations. The chief of the university police department said that the woman has changed her story since filing the initial complaint.
The school's athletic director and coach have not commented. The school's chancellor was the one who said the suspensions were for curfew violations.
