Southern Miss sets up camp in Memphis

The Southern Miss football team travelled by bus to Memphis Thursday where they are setting up practice for the team's first game at Alabama on September 10. Their home opener with Tulane was cancelled because of Hurricane Katrina. The Golden Eagles haven't practiced since a short workout Sunday night in Hattiesburg. The city of Memphis and the University of Memphis are both assisting USM's football team.

There was a report earlier this week that the Golden Eagles went 24 hours without food at one point and that they were sleeping on cots at an evacuation shelter.
