Temple accepts MAC invitation

As expected (and previously discussed at Fanblogs), Temple has accepted an offer from the MAC to join that conference for football. The Owls will be full members for the 2007 season and they have added a game with Western Michigan for 2005 - which brings their total number of MAC opponents to four.

Temple will be a part of the East Division in the MAC which will give that division 7 members now. The Owls will remain in the Atlantic 10 for other varsity sports.

Previous coverage here reported that Western Kentucky was also considering a move to the MAC. If that happened, I assume they'd go into the West to balance the divisions. Other scheduling issues previously discussed here have not been addressed by Temple yet.
