Schaeffer could end up at Clemson?

Reports earlier this week indicate that Tennessee quarterback Brent Schaeffer, who was dismissed from the team, has narrowed his list of transfer destinations down to eight schools. Internet and talk radio speculation both indicate he may end up at Clemson.

Schaeffer's mother told newspapers in Florida that he sent release forms to Clemson, Central Florida, Miami (FL), South Florida, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M and Miami (OH.)

Unsubstantiated talk in Knoxville indicates that Schaeffer's troubles following his recent arrest were used by head coach Phil Fulmer as a way to make room at the quarterback position after Schaeffer wouldn't move to receiver.

There have been reports that Fulmer wouldn't release Schaeffer to any other SEC school or to a school the Volunteers were scheduled to play. N.C. State was said to be off the list for that reason but Central Florida is also scheduled to play UT and George O'Leary confirmed receiving Schaeffer's paperwork.

Clemson has Will Proctor, Cullen Harper and Tribble Reese currently on scholarship at QB behind senior Charlie Whitehurst.
