Matthew McConaughey gives Horns his St. Crispen's Day speech
It isn't often that we get to dust off the old Bard references before a football game, but I'd like to highlight verses from the speech made by Henry V before the Battle of Agincourt, from Shakespeare's Henry V:
"...He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say "To-morrow is Saint Crispian": Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars. And say "These wounds I had on Crispin's day." Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages What feats he did that day: then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester, Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember'd; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition: And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day. (IV, iii)"
What's Shakespeare have to do with the Texas - Ohio State game...heck if I know, but Matthew McConaughey, who would probably smoke a hell of a bowl with Longhorns Tarell Brown, Tyrell Gatewood, plus former 'Horns presumably turned Rastafarians Ramonce Taylor and Ricky Williams, opted for this Henry V-esque monologue when asked for his prediction on the game:
"A very good team is coming to our house and wants to steal something that we own . . . a national championship . . . when the University of Texas Longhorns play for the love of his brother lining up next to him, for the pride of giving his personal best every down, for the honor of every grandparent that could AND could not be at the game, the final whistle will blow and we will be victorious . . . the wannabe thieves will be sent home hurting, humbled, and with a respect for our character."
What are the odds that McConaughey immediately toked after that??

Blog worthy, WB?? I have no idea. Maybe you can send over your handy-dandy blog worthy slide rule so we can use that next time. :)
And Buckeye Mark, you seem to have some pretty clear insight on the blunt/bowl situation. Want some Doritos, brother?? :)

So what if he was stoned? that is his business not ours. For everyone though sooner or later we must account for our actions to the one who paid for us in sacrifice and tears. What God calls clean is clean, what ever besets mathew well---- that he himslef will have to deal with. Stoned or not he is one hottie.

Nice speech but I think we came down to their house, took something that was rightfully ours, and left them hurting, humbled and with respect for our character. At least last year was a close game.
It was a great season Texas (what with that N. Texas game and all). With the schedule you have from here on out, even winning the rest, we won't see you in Phoenix in Jan.
Pack another bowl McConaughey. You've been smoked by the Buckeyes.
Go Buckeyes!!!

Not to get off topic or anything but I can't tell you how much it will hurt to root for "That team up north."
Is it possible that both UM and ND can lose this weekend?
Unfortunately Carr has Cooper syndrome. Let's hope he shakes it this weekend.
In all apologies to Woody...go blue.

Just saw the article re:MMc giving a speech by Henry V. I hope he translated this so they could understand it. However, looking at MMc's photo - was he capable of translating? I have always loved him in movies, but he needs to improve his appearance and the company he has been keeping. Hope he gets his act together soon as I am such a big fan of his.
How does he rate his friend, Lance, as a father? It appears he is on prowl with MMc and travelling all the time now and before always w/SCrowe? Certainly doesn't appear to be an involved dad. I actually sipped the Kool Aid when MMc said he wanted to be a dad and a "hands-on" dad being there for his kids unlike those who weren't. Said he was and is a family man wanting lots of children. Was this just Hollywood talk? sounded good for TV, Matt? Have always heard lay down with the dogs/get up with the fleas. Oh, yes, did MMc not have a speech for UT players today against their difficult conference foe (one of many) Rice?????
Maybe not since it didn't help last week.

It should be how long had he been toking before that? If you look at the picture that you posted next to the article, it clearly looks like he was stoned off his ass.
