UCLA routed, Los Angeles is burning

The UCLA Bruins fans are in full-on meltdown mode. And - while we've seen this before - it looks like everyone is jumping from the coach Karl Dorrell ship following a brutally embarrassing 44-6 whipping at the hands of unranked, winless Utah.

UCLA entered the game ranked #11 in the nation. The leave the game with fans looking ahead to basketball season.

The Bruins failed to score a touchdown for the first time in four years and were outscored 30-0 in the second half. Utah entered the game winless with losses to Oregon State and Air Force.

Utah running back Darrell said the Bruins were overrated. It might have been an understatement.

"That last touchdown drive they came out on the field and they were whining and crying. And we just kept driving the ball down the field. They lost their composure. They had to be thinking they were going to win the game going in. That's the wrong thing to think about us. . . . That's an overrated team."

Meanwhile, over at Bruins Nation, the house is burning.

Is this program one iota better than it was on the day it got punked at Colorado in Dorrell's very first game?

After all the coaching changes, after all the recruiting of Dorrell's guys, after all the improvement in strength and conditioning, after the entire underbelly got fixed (that's a f***ing huge LOL!!!) ... is UCLA one bit better than it was that sad day in Boulder?

And more from Bruins Nation.

I don't think there is any doubt as bad as the losses against Fresno State, Wyoming, Arizona (05), 19-66, Washington, Notre Dame, and Florida State, this is the WORST LOSS in the history of Dorrell era and possibly one of the WORST FIVE LOSESS in the history of UCLA football.

Seriously though?

Are any of us who have been around this Nation really all that surprised?

How many more Saturdays do I have to feel sick in my stomach every time I watch a UCLA football game?

How many more Saturdays do I have to watch our opponent's football team look like the one that is always more inspired, fired up, and focused when taking on my alma mater's program?

Just how many more Saturdays we are going to have to put up with a total CLOWN making a mockery out of our beloved football program?

How many more Saturdays will Dan Guerrerro allow this worthless CLOWN to sully the proud tradition of our alma mater's football program as the laughing stock of college football.

One silver lining to the latest Dorrellian special: we didn't have to wait till the end of the season (like we did in 2005) to be humiliated and exposed as a worthless paper tiger.

And it's not just Bruins Nation, the entire city of LA is burning. Chris Dufresne, of the LA Times, has this:

What if limp-along Utah, playing with its backup quarterback, backup running back, backup receiver, backup guard and probably its backup equipment man, didn't care that UCLA was ranked No. 11 and had 20 starters back from the team that beat USC last season?

What if?

Shoot, it all came to pass, run and tackle, sure as UCLA Coach Karl Dorrell walked off the field escorted by two police officers into the early sunset of a soured season.

It will be remembered by Bruins fans as the Wipeout at Wasatch.

Rice-Eccles Stadium can now boast of hosting the opening ceremony for the 2002 Winter Olympics and 2007 closing ceremony for UCLA.

The LA Daily News attempts to determine which UCLA loss has been the most embarrassing during the Karl Dorrell years, and then just gives up.

Even the players don't know how to sum up the feeling.

"This is the most sickening feeling I've ever had as a college football player, to tell you the truth," UCLA fifth-year senior defensive end Bruce Davis said. "We got the fans running out there, dancing on the field. We can hear (Utah celebrating) next door.

...

"It can't get worse than this," Bruins cornerback Trey Brown said. "It's one thing to go out there and fight, but it's another to kick your (butt) kicked up and down the field."

So... to sum up... no one that follows UCLA is happy.

If Dorrell has any sense of dignity and self respect left he would resign and let this charade end this week.

GO BRUINS.

PS: DeWayne Walker is a farce. He is an overhyped clown. So stop the nonsense of him taking over as an interim coach before you think about typing it. The entire KD staff is a sick charade.

Wow.

isn't this the same ucla team that beat usc last year? I guess losses from many years ago are more important than a big win just a few games ago.

    Wow...

A reaction like this can greatly hamper a team's ability to bounce back the next game. This could be the start of UCLA falling apart the rest of the year. It could get u-g-l-y.

It all comes down to recruiting. If they get the horses that USC gets, they can compete. If they don't...they won't. Does that mean that Utah has the horses? no. So I gues it really does come down to the Coach.

UCLA better make a decent bowl game or Dorrell is gone.

Let us not forget Utah lost thier starting QB Running Back and best linebacker in game one and their best WR in game two.

I am a Utah fan, and I decided I couldn't bear to watch the masacure that was going to ensue on Versus nationally this week. Shame on me!

I will be posting soon about the top non BCS teams. Maybe Air Force is better than every one expected.

    Sheesh!
Another embarrassing loss for the Bruins, though I still think the pounding Arizona gave them in '05 was worse. I mean, to lose a game is one thing, but getting absolutely blown out is quite another.
OK, I'll be the first to ask: Could the Bruins lose to Notre Dame? Better question: Will the Irish blow them out?
Well Bruins, enjoy the Las Vegas bowl.

Is there a better day than Sat Sept 16th for a Trojan Fan??? maybe.. it would have included a LSU loss and the SEC going O for OOC.. however in lieu of being called greedy. I'll take it

USC 49 the Corn 31 in a game that was a rout at 42-10 before PC called in the dogs

ND getting destroyed AND Shut out 38 ZIPPO to a horrible UM team

    and of course

the bumbling buffoons from across town going to SLC and getting destroyed 44-SIX.. SIX stinking points.. yet this point of this whole article is wrong.. L.A. isn't burning.. maybe Westwood is.. b ut L.A. nor LA County or OC is burning.. LMAO

L.A. doesn't give a crap about UCLA FB.. its not relevant, and for all intent and purposes it exists one game a year.. yeah sure an occasional upset of its cross town rivals.. but all in all UCLA is irrelevant in Football in L.A...

Great job boys in pansy blue.. great job.. way to show up

Keep Karl Dorrell please.. it gives us Trojan Fans an extra snicker or two each Saturday

HA HA!!!! UCLA sucks!! Its interesting to see how pathetic the PAC 10 is when they don't have they're incompetent refs making up for they're inability to play football!! UCLA should be counting they're blessings that they squeeked past BYU last week!!! Which was the most poorly officiated game since Oklahoma was robbed against Oregon. BYU is better than UCLA and with neutral refs would have won!! Even though they had the refs helping them out and a 3-1 turnover advantage the pansies still barely pulled off the win!!! Ha ha ha!! Too bad Ben Olsen, you shouldn't have transferred from Quarterback University. You could have been the next Jim Mcmahon, Steve Young, or Ty Detmer. Instead I guess you might end up as the... uh.. Well I guess UCLA never really has put out QB's like BYU which is kind of sad considering the talent base they have to work with!! Ha ha!!!

Oh and then let me think of some sexual inuendo so you think I'm old and take me seriously. Who cares if I'm 16 or 14 or 10 if I got something to say that you don't agree with say it and back it up, don't just call names! But maybe you just don't have anything to say because you realize my point is valid. I'm waiting man! Take your time and get back to me.
