USC cornerback charged with rape

Starting Southern California cornerback Eric Wright was arrested Saturday by police investigating a sexual assault. He was charged with rape and released on $100,000 bond.

Wright had one interception in the Trojans' victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.

Few details were available in initial reports and the following responses were made by the University:

“We’re aware of the situation and everyone is cooperating fully,” athletic department spokesman Tim Tessalone said.

[...]

“We don’t know a whole lot of information, but we’re doing everything we can to help and cooperate,” coach Pete Carroll told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s just disappointing to think that these things have to come up even to be considered.”

Hey Jeff, I have been checking this site almost everyday and I am wondering just how many NCAA football players in this off season have had trouble with the law? Seems like an unusual amount this year. Thanks

To paraphrase a local talk show host, the worst time of year that all coaches fear is the time before and after spring practice when their players have all that free time to get into trouble.

I agree but I think it would make an interesting article to see how many NCAA players have actualy been removed this year or have had some kind of criminal charges placed on them on a school by school basis. It looks like so far you could build a whole team out of who has already been dissmissed.
