Leinart only taking ballroom dancing class
Southern Cal starting QB and fifth year senior Matt Leinart needs one class to graduate: Ballroom Dancing. By taking a two unit elective, Leinart will complete the requirements for a sociology degree.
"I put in my work to get my degree," he said. "I came back for my fifth year, and I'm taking what's necessary for me to graduate. And that's two units."
The NCAA allows athletes who are in their final semester to forgo the 12 credit-hour minimum for eligibility:
"A student-athlete may compete while enrolled in less than a minimum full-time program of studies," provided he or she is enrolled in the final semester or quarter of the baccalaureate program and is taking the courses needed to graduate."
Fifth year WR Greig Carlson is the only other Trojan taking just one class.
