Trojans QB arrested for sexual assault could lose eligibility
USC has suspended QB Mark Sanchez, currently listed as #2 on the depth chart, following his arrest on sexual assault charges.
Reports say that Sanchez was placed on 'interim suspension', which means he cannot attend classes at USC. With final exams coming up in May, the suspension could place Sanchez's academic eligibility for the fall semester in jeopardy.
UPDATE: Bruins Nation has the video of the Sanchez arrest.

I wonder if Trojanwire is going to call this a vast Texas conspiracy, too

Of course it is a big Texas conspiracy! Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the accuser turned out to be Mack Brown in drag.
Seriously, this is pretty terrible for the victim, for the Trojans, and for Mark. He obviously shouldn't be anywhere near the football facilities but I don't like them bumping him of class however.

While I don't agee with banning him from class, either, you have to look at it from USC's standpoint. If they allowed him to go to class, some female student would get his daddy to sue USC for creating a distressful environment, especially if the victim was a student herself.

The Trojans are approaching the threshold of Colorado and Miami as one of the most notorious sex crime schools in the nation. And now with only one scholarship true freshman quarterback on the field I don't see how anyone can think they will be even a shadow of what they have been the past few years. I predict at least a 3-4 loss season, best case scenario.

Comments from USC redshirt freshman quarterback Mark Sanchez, in response to the District Attorney’s rejection of the allegation against him:
“From the outset of this investigation, I’ve been confident that the facts would come to light and that investigators would confirm that I was innocent of the allegation against me.
“I am grateful to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office and the LAPD detectives for their diligence in pursuing the truth and taking the time necessary to make the right decision. I also would like to thank my family, my fellow players, our coaching staff, the USC family and all of the people that stood by me during this very difficult time.
“I look forward to continuing my education at USC and being a positive contributor to our school, student body and team.”
USC head football coach Pete Carroll:
“I’m glad to hear that this is behind Mark and that he has been exonerated. This was a trying process for him. An accusation like this is so damaging, because opinions are formed before all the facts are in.
“Mark is a great kid. His actions always have been exemplary and I know they’ll continue to be so in the future.
“We’ve always worked hard to do the right things in our program. Mark regretted that this situation reflected poorly on him, his family and his teammates. I know he’ll work hard to put this behind him. He can now concentrate on his schoolwork

So Cal, I have always enjoyed your posts. But in your desparate attempt to protect the USC program's reputation, have you really jumped to the conclusion that this is a "lying slut"? Weak dude.... saying that the circumstances seem "a bit strange" isnt the same as calling a chick a "lying s|ut"... and on top of that, note the "er," on the "slut/girl" comment...
So Cal Clippers says:

The guy was at a bar at 1:00... the S|ut in question, er, the girl in question claimed that the alleged assault happened at 12:30 -- LAPD hasnt revealed where she claims the incident happened... a bit strange.
By extention, I am also vindicated from "USC no Shame" guy/scumbag.

I guess some of them go stupid once they hit the big time.
I hope this is a false allegation for this kid as it was looking like he had a great future ahead of him.
