Hokies to open season in Atlanta against Bama

The second annual Chick-fil-A College Kickoff is set for the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, with Virginia Tech facing Alabama in an ESPN/ABC broadcast on September 5th.

Both schools will announce the game in a teleconference Friday, according to Chick-fil-A Bowl President Gary Stokan.

"I think both teams will be ranked in the top 10 to start the season," Stokan said. "We should have a soldout atmosphere in Atlanta."

As far as ACC-SEC matchups go, I think this is about as good as you can get until Miami or FSU get up off the mat. It certainly would have made for a more interesting BCS game than either school is getting this season. I'm sure both squads will be looking to make a statement a la the Tide's start in 08 against Clemson.

Should be a good one. I'm just hoping both teams don't wear their home uniforms - talk about a headache.
