WAC'd out? Teams looking for bowls

The WAC has tie-ins with just two bowl games this year. Unfortunately, it looks like there will be at least three teams to qualify. If some of the WAC teams don't get at-large invites, they could wind up sitting at home - eligible or not.

The WAC has bowl tie-ins with the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl and the MPC Computers Bowl in Boise. The conference lost its third game when the Silicon Valley Football Classic was decertified last year.

Boise State and Fresno State are locks to get to seven wins and probably will finish 1-2 in the conference. Nevada (4-3, 3-1), Louisiana Tech (4-3, 3-1) and Hawai'i (3-5, 3-3) all could become bowl eligible.

The WAC is counting on Boise State & Fresno State perhaps moving up to bigger bowls when the BCS assignments are handed out. For example, if two Pac10 teams make the BCS, then that would great some at-large slots in the Pac10's tie-ins.

The Liberty Bowl has an at-large spot open for this season's game. They are locked into the hosting the C-USA champ, but have no commitment for the other slot this year. They have stated that a WAC team is a possibility. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to bring Boise State back again.

Boise would like to stay home and play at there stadium. Fresno State would be a good fit for the Liberty Bowl. They would bring a nice little crowd and a high power offense (just ask USC). Pat Hill would enjoy playing someone new and of course beating them.
